We’ll discuss setting up the vat and spend time preparing our materials for dyeing. By the end of class, we will finish the dyeing process and you will be amazed as the stunning one-of-a-kind patterns are unfolded and revealed! Please bring a small 100% cotton/linen/silk or other types of natural fiber, dyeable scrap fabric will also be available. No large items like bed sheets or fabric yardage.

12 – 4 pm Concrete planter design workshop w/ The AVE Experience

Forming part of the circular economy where we are seeking to reduce our impact on the environment and doing our part by giving household plastics a second chance of creating something beautiful. This idea was born out of the work being done with a non-profit that focuses on teaching children different initiatives such as recycling, water conservation, organic farming and beautification. This has created the impulse to share the vision of this project with the community to be able to create and make a difference where we are.

1 – 4 pm Silkscreen your S.M.A.R.T. tote! w/ Joe De La Cruz

Swing by the S.M.A.R.T. silkscreen table to create your very own S.M.A.R.T. tote bag with artist Joe De La Cruz. From 1 – 4 or until totes run out. We’ll have your design ready for you!

2 – 4 pm From Zines to Offset – Let’s Talk About Books! w/ Jacob Hurst

Swordfish Islands is an independent publisher of table top role playing games. They got their start blogging and making zines, and have gone on to run three successful Kickstarter campaigns and print over 10,000 hard cover books! Jacob, one of the creators of Swordfish Islands, will talk a little about publishing your own books independently, and even tear apart a couple books so you can see how they’re made! You’ll also be able to see original artwork from Swordfish Islands’ newest book “The Tomb of Black Sand”. Then we’ll make coloring book zines with gold or silver foil on their cover, and fold up miniature book “signatures”.

The plan is to do two sessions (from 2:00pm – 3:00pm and 3:00pm – 4:00pm), but if the studio’s open, stop by and make a coloring book and book signature!

7 – 10 pm The Time Warp: Rocky Horror Photo Booth

Que Linda Makeover and Photography Studio celebrates cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show with a photo booth and styling by the photographer and stylist duo.
